I loved the characters in those books but now I find the style a bit old-fashioned. And I'm sure if I look long enough I will find The Jacaranda Tree on my bookshelf somewhere.

AlphieAlphie Souphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17041492283753978975noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5123631695572626256.post-59409977460235979442017-02-20T20:37:51.173+00:002017-02-20T20:37:51.173+00:00As a person who owned and ran a bookshop for 7 yea...As a person who owned and ran a bookshop for 7 years, I can sympathize with your love of old books.Catalysthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03804837416104556928noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5123631695572626256.post-16214816473311592202017-02-20T18:37:56.494+00:002017-02-20T18:37:56.494+00:00Ooo, I do like that mural. We have a book fair here and there used to be quite a lot of volumes from the 40s and 50s included in the stacks. I still remember the time I found a book by Douglas Adams called "The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul" on a sale rack and was intrigued by the cover and the name. I bought it and was introduced to another version of Douglas Adams that I quickly fell in love with. I often wish he had written more than two books around that character. I had never heard it before until I stumbled across it in "Shadows and Light". As for Irony's mural - it certainly speaks without words. To me it's saying that the street artist is not always making pretty pictures - but sometimes lighting metaphorical fires.Yorkshire Puddinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06019673884543913089noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5123631695572626256.post-82696418916332849732017-02-20T09:18:35.456+00:002017-02-20T09:18:35.456+00:00You always manage to find interesting things...Do ...You always manage to find interesting things...Do tell about the books!ehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11376645220662546020noreply@blogger.com
