The same people who are willing to pay for a $1 banana are buying the New Yorker on their iPad for $5 so they can enjoy them both with their Starbucks latte, which probably costs at least $4. For many people a dollar is just pocket change these days.
Sadly, no. The cafe at work (which is most assuradely NOT a Starbucks) charges .75.
