Pwincess
It's time for another round of random photos from the ol' iPhone, taken over the past several weeks.
First, someone discarded a pretty decent table and set of chairs at the housing estate around the corner. I wish people would Freecycle stuff like this.
Who is Megan? I don't have a clue. She looks like a game piece, perhaps?
Interestingly, when I used Google Image Search to try to identify her, it returned "NoPegida" as the result -- the movement against Germany's far-right and xenophobic Pegida party. Is Megan in Pegida? But she looks so kind!
Yeah, yeah. Yadda yadda.
A clever Tesco ad on a bus shelter.
Should I know who this "Pwincess" is? I'm guessing a footballer, but it could be just some guy whose friends made these stickers for a laugh.
When I spotted this discarded mirror while out walking Olga, it seemed like a good moment for a selfie. Unfortunately my face was a bit scrunched up because I was focusing on getting the dog to stand in the right place, plus the sun was right in my face. Oh well. Good idea, poor execution.
A delivery van for the Iceland grocery store chain. I'm not sure what makes them "Rang-Tan" friendly, and I'm sure I could find out if I Googled it, but I'll take their word for it. Something to do with palm oil, no doubt.
And finally, I found this on the sidewalk walking home from work last night -- a peculiar ridged rubberish thing with white stuffing coming out. At first I thought it was a brain, but it doesn't have hemispheres, so now I'm guessing...dog toy?

Found Megan! She's from a Guess Who game set: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0122/7397/5360/products/XHBPJJ110_2_1000x.jpg?v=1632302295
(on the left)
Since she hangs out with such a diverse bunch of other faces, let's assume that she's a pleasant lefty old lady with pockets full of Werthers Originals for anyone any everyone.
Iceland delivers? Huh. I'm guessing their products contain no palm oil and no rainforest plants are destroyed in the manufacturing of them.
A fun assortment. I’m not awake enough to figure out the stuffed thing at the end. Do you think the shiitake ad would be permitted in the US?
What the streets bring up for blog fodder. Megan mystery solved. The table and chairs may go to a good home.
Good to see a small country making an impact in a western power country and that the Icelandic Orangutans are safe.
Excellent work! I like your characterization. Let's go with that.
Frankly, you look better with a scrunched up face than your normal librarian face..."Welcome to the library! And how may I help you today?"
You certainly have a good eye for photos of things to ponder.
That furniture may in fact be waiting for pickup. Let's hope. It looks useful.
I like the concept of an Olga selfie with the mirror. Did you leave the mirror??
I love the shiitake ad.
And I guess people leave their stuff outside hoping someone will cart it off? But you'd need a vehicle for the table and chair.
The brain thing has me flummoxed.
"It was the best of trash [mirror for selfie], it was the worst of trash [stuffed brain]. . ."
And I thought Olga was the pwincess around the streets!
Could the "Pwincess" be a reference to the Princess Bride? Remember the guy who couldn't pronounce his R's? "Mawwaiage..." https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093779/characters/nm0177228
Just a guess.
You have a great variety in your daily life. I like the selfie.
I didn't know that about palm oil and orangutans. Now I am wondering about that.
You should probably check with Olga for the answer to the "dog toy" question!?!
wonderful self-portrait with Olga.
LOVE when you do random phone photos- they are all wonderful, especially the mirror. All of our donation sites for stuff no longer needed or wanted, have gone to greedy corporations so we do not donate to them anymore. The Assistance League only takes cute things. We don't bin good stuff so it ends up in the mystery garage until we figure out who needs it. Stuff is a problem.
Good finds! Love the clever shittake one. And "Megan" looks wanted! Love that you look out for fun things on your walks.
I was going to say the Guess Who game also. The Olga/mirror picture is very artistic. It's fascinating to see the rest of the world through others' photos.
The Tesco ad is cute. I use to order from a place in NOLA called Wearable Vegetables. They had lots of fun products playing on clever sayings like that, many based on books and films. I gave one of my kids a "shiitake happens" t-shirt and I still wear my "there's no place like hummus" tee.
I sure hope that someone rescued that table and chairs. There are a lot of people in need these days who could use them. I love the Tesco's sign. I also like the 'selfie' with you and Olga. It's not easy to position a dog and take a photo all with one hand.
That was excellent dog wrangling to get Olga in front of the mirror while being still.
I can remember when that lad had hair! Well, actually I can remember when you posted photos of that lad with hair.
:)
I always enjoy looking at your random photos. It is an art! And that's a great selfie I think!
Yeah, that's my guess too, though that seems like a hard thing to ensure across the entire inventory of a grocery store.
Oh, I think so. Don't you? Seems like I see mildly risque ads in the states.
Well, I'm not sure they're safe, exactly, but at least someone is trying!
That IS my normal librarian face.
It gives me something to do while I walk around!
I did leave the mirror! And I left the furniture too. It's sitting outside the trash room for that apartment complex, but yeah, I hope someone adopted it.
Me too. A sea creature?
Oh, she is, no question! :)
Yeah, maybe! I forgot about that guy!
I am not an expert selfie-taker. I prefer pictures that are NOT of me!
As I understand it, orangutans come from Borneo, and much of the jungle there has been bulldozed to plant palm oil plantations, thus endangering the orangutans. There's been an effort to reduce palm oil consumption as a result.
Thanks! I'm not sure SHE thought it was wonderful. :)
I'd just give it to the corporations. Better to get rid of it and have it used by someone else. Don't you have a Goodwill or Salvation Army nearby? Or are those the corporations of which you speak? I think they're nonprofit at least -- though the SA is quite conservative theologically, I think.
Hopefully whoever lost Megan lives nearby and found her again!
I've never heard of this "Guess Who" game! Is it a thing in the states too?
Ha! Excellent! I guess this answers Mitchell's question about whether such an ad would be appreciated in the USA.
I suppose when I see something like that I should just list it on Freecycle myself. A used furniture dealer would love to have it for their inventory, I'm sure.
She never quite understands why I make her stand in certain places, but she goes along with it.
If by "that lad" you mean me, I haven't had hair since about 1989! (And even then it was sparse!)
Glad it made you smile, Mage!
Glad you liked it! You can't see my face too clearly which is just as well! LOL
Mildy risque, yes, but would they be permitted to print the intended word Shit in South Dakota (even though the governor is full of it herself)?
That dog toy looks very much like a lattice stinkhorn fungus. Great photos as usual,
Xoxo
