Poinciana
I'm back from Florida, where I spent a weekend on Anna Maria Island with some friends and visited my family near Tampa and in Jacksonville. I ate Cuban food, went to the new Tampa history museum, walked the new Riverwalk along the Hillsborough River, and spent quality time with my 2 1/2-year-old niece, who talks nonstop! I had a great time and it was good to see not only my niece but also my mom, dad, brother and other family, and numerous old friends.
In Anna Maria, which is near Bradenton south of Tampa, the poinciana trees were blooming beautifully. I took these shots while roaming around the island, a very low-key place for an escape to the beach. No high-rise condos, no malls, very few crowds. I've been visiting there for years, and I always go home happy and rested.
Those pictures are awesome. The colors are so intense, you just can't believe they're real. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you are back. I've really missed you. The colors of Florida vegetation often seem so intense, or is it just that the sun is intense? The poinciana is certainly no exception.
ReplyDeleteDid Dave cook you a welcome home meal?
Those trees really are fantastic. My friend lives on Poinciana Street and I never thought to look up what they llok like.
ReplyDeletei went to anna maria island for spring break early on in college. Definitely not a bar hopping, joe college dodging scene, which was great. had the best crab cake of my life there. sadly it was before i was really into photography, but now i can appreciate yours -- great shots!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen the Bradenton area look so colorful or beautiful as in these photos. I have visited cousins in Bradenton and environs, but clearly have missed seeing some of its charm. Thanks for opening the window!
