Woo Hoo!
Wow, is the news ever looking good this morning! I haven't absorbed all the details yet, since I just woke up about an hour and a half ago and I spent most of that time working -- more on that in a moment. But it seems the election results went well in just about every race I'd been watching -- not only for Obama but also for Elizabeth Warren, Claire McCaskill, Bill Nelson and many other Democratic senators. Way to go, voters! I'm amazed. I almost feel bad for every derogatory joke I've ever made about gun-toting, Bible-thumping America.
I've been watching the comments from my friends on Facebook, and it seems everyone is pretty psyched, at least among the people I know. I'm sure someone somewhere is disappointed, but I'm not friends with them on Facebook! And apparently gay marriage is passing in certain states? Who'd a thunk it?!
What a relief. And now, best of all, it's over. We return you to our regularly scheduled program of moving the country forward.
For once, I'm sorry I live overseas. I want to be there, in the midst of the excitement, like I was four years ago.
Yes, I worked all morning. I got up at 5:45 to find three voice mail messages from teachers calling in sick. I had to scramble around and find subs in the pre-dawn darkness, and I was so preoccupied that the election didn't even enter my mind. It wasn't until I had everyone squared away for today that I thought to check the news.
Also, the draft copy of my newest photography book arrived yesterday. I'm a little disappointed in the results, actually. Last night I had to redesign the cover, because the edges of the image had been cut off, and I had to adjust the type size inside. I also think the photos are printing a little too darkly -- some of the detail is lost -- but I can't really help that. I ordered a second copy, and if this one looks good with its revisions, I'll make it available for public sale.

Woo Hoo is right! I was so happy to wake up this morning to the news! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you're disappointed with your new photography book. Hopefully the second copy will be better. Here's hoping!
We stayed up until after midnight - very excited! Today I am pretty bleary eyed...
ReplyDeleteThat's another great picture - I don't know why I like the ones of people walking in front of walls, but I do.
Oh, and I'm FB friends with LOT of very disappointed people. I'm from NC & my high school friends are mostly conservative Christian folks who feel like the devil won last night. I feel sad for them, because I'm a Christian too & I feel like the values of my church won!
ReplyDeleteI will be buying! Can't wait! A present for myself.
ReplyDeleteYes YAHOO! We can all breathe now- Washington state- marijuana passed, marriage for everyone passed, housing for the homeless and affordable housing passed - the entire state went for Obama and most women running for lesser offices. Of course there is a book store on every corner and loads of dark days...readers! Smart folks! so YAY, and YAY again!
I am happy Obama won, but many conservatives kept their seats in the house and senate which probably means more gridlock politics...I'm still trying to learn how the amendments did in Florida.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you put a follow button on your blog? Or am I so thick that I can't see it? OK I'll go and get my glasses and look again but I don't think there is one.
