Balcony Jungle
Dave and I pass this apartment on our walk to work. Despite living high up in a building on Finchley Road, someone's taking their gardening seriously! When I zoom in on the balcony I can see impatiens, tomatoes, some kind of squash or cucumbers, and some other things too. That balcony does seem like an excellent place to grow sun-loving plants.
I bet those rooms (hexagonal, I think?) in the turret are interesting.
Dave and I sat out in the garden last night after work, having a glass of wine and talking about our day, and then walked around checking out the plants. We found this rose blooming way back in the shrubbery, on a bush that rarely gives us flowers. Even now, so late in the season, the garden offers unexpected gifts.
Wouldn’t you love to see inside that apartment? So nice to have that rose surprise in your garden.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see inside the turret in particular!

ReplyDeleteJINX! Pick-poke, you owe Mitchell a Coke!
DeleteLove the window box too
ReplyDeleteI hope it's well fastened to the windowsill!
DeleteThat is quite a garden for such a small balcony. And, I'm admiring that blue sky too. I love that rose you found hidden in the garden.
ReplyDeleteIt was nice to have a blue sky for a change. We haven't seen many of those lately.
DeleteQuite a nice apartment block by its exterior. Sorting the world with a glass or two is one of my favourite things to do.
ReplyDeleteIt's a nice looking building but it's not a great location. Finchley Road is very busy.
DeleteSecond floor vegetable garden - great use of space.
ReplyDeleteActually it's more like the fourth floor!
DeleteYes! A perfect setting for a wee, charming vegetable garden!
ReplyDeleteI admire their industry at planting out such a small space effectively.
DeleteSmart gardening. A lot less likely to find slugs up that high. Last rose of summer is a nice gift.
ReplyDeleteThat's true! It's a no-slug zone!
DeleteI love that balcony garden!
ReplyDeletePretty nice, isn't it?
DeleteThat is a terrific garden up on that balcony! and I would love to see inside that tower. Interesting!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are enjoying every minute of your garden! It has sure been a good year for your blooms!
There's always something blooming, for sure!
DeleteThat balcony garden is so beautiful. What wonderful use of that sunshiny outside space.
ReplyDeleteYes -- it is a great sunny spot.
DeleteThat is impressive! No carrot fly there!!
ReplyDeleteI didn't even think about the dearth of pests, but you and Mary are right!
DeleteThat's quite a penthouse garden they've got going for them, and from the looks of it, a spectacularly green thumb.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how much they harvest?
DeleteFall afternoons and evenings can be great times to sit outside.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's a good, temperate time of year.
DeleteYour rose is beautiful. I've found every season has its beauty, just not always in blooms. I've also found every season has its allergen!
ReplyDeleteI am having the worst time with my sinuses this year. I don't know if it's allergies or mask-wearing or what.
DeleteWhat an interesting idea -- a patio garden. Your rose is gorgeous! Sitting in your garden and enjoying a glass of wine sounds wonderful! Enjoy your day, hugs, Edna B.
ReplyDeleteI guess if that's all the outdoor space you've got, you learn to use it!
DeleteCool building! Smart having a jungle to scrub/filter the air going into the flat.An edible jungle!
ReplyDeleteAnd above Finchley Road the air needs scrubbing, believe me.
DeleteI bet that rose is fragrant too. probably doesn't get enough sun.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't get to it to smell it! It really is WAY back in the shrubbery, and yes, this year in particular I think it's in quite a bit of shade.
DeleteWhat A Pleasant Surprise There - Dig That Reflection As Well - Enjoy The Weekend And Walk That Olga Girl
ReplyDeleteCheers
She'll end up walking me, probably!
DeleteOne can never see too many flower photos, and yours are extra special!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you feel that way. I probably post too many of them!
DeleteI can't help but wonder how much extra weight is on that balcony from the pots of earth in which the plants are growing. (I'm remembering seeing a photo of a second-storey house deck that collapsed from the weight of a full Jacuzzi built on it!) Actually, the balcony looks pretty solid. But I still wonder. And the turret room - I'd love to see it too.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm...I hadn't even thought of that! Like you said, though, I think this building is pretty solid.
DeleteThat balcony is amazing!
ReplyDeleteJust curious, since you do seem to spend a lot of time outdoors in your garden, do you not have mosquitoes there, or what do you use to overpower them?
We don't really have them, fortunately! There are biting insects in other parts of the UK but our garden is largely free of them.
DeleteThat single rose is beautiful, and whoever has that flat is making excellent use of space as well as possibly reducing their food bill.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I wonder what their harvest is like?
