Fog
It was damp and misty yesterday morning, the garden shrouded in a soft white fog.
Olga and I went on our walk to the corner, but I was running late for work so I had to hustle her home again pretty quickly.
The spider webs were exactly like a child's drawing, beaded with misty droplets.
I've got the dehumidifier going again, and this weekend we're looking at two days of rain -- so it's got a job to do!
Yesterday during my lunch break I tried to comment on several blogs, and Blogger would not let me. I kept getting a "your comment failed to post" message. I hope it was a temporary glitch and not something based on the school's Internet security settings, because that would mean I can't comment from school anymore, which would truly be a huge pain for me. (I also couldn't answer my own comments, but I will try to catch up today.)
I'm looking forward to a weekend of "Bleak House," which I have allowed to languish untouched for several days now.
Wonderful pictures of spider webs. I've never seen anything like it.
ReplyDeleteThe dew really made them stand out!
DeleteThe webs are a stunning work of natural art.
ReplyDeleteIf you did not use a dehumidifier, what would happen?
The house gets very damp, particularly in autumn. We've had problems in the past with mold growing on the walls in certain problem areas, for example.
DeleteDo they have Damp Rid over there?
ReplyDeleteI don't know. Is that the plastic tub of granules that somehow collects water?
DeleteThe webs are remarkable. Sure they're not novelty plastic webs that some kids have put up ahead of Halloween?
ReplyDeleteHa! I am indeed sure. They are the real thing.
DeleteLovely to be able to see spiders' work properly even if it does mean a bit of damp!
ReplyDeleteBlogger does that every now and then... you'll be back ok
I don't mind damp outside -- but keep it out of the house!
DeleteI enjoy fog — when I don’t have to drive in it. And the beaded spider webs are sheer (ahem) magic. Stunning photos.
ReplyDeleteThey're surprisingly hard to photograph, but if you can put them against a dark background they stand out well.
DeleteThat web is striking!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it?! I wonder where the spiders are?
DeleteThe webs look unreal! I thought at first they were Halloween decorations!
ReplyDeleteYou can see why spider webs became emblems of the season!
DeleteI had the same problem with some blogs recently and did a declutter, as in clear all cache, temp data and stuff. Since then it's been fine. (We have sold our souls to the internet gods anyway.)
ReplyDeleteFoggy here also. But none of your lovely spider nets.
OK, that's an idea. I might try it on Monday if the problem persists!
DeleteAh..foggy London! I had the same problem when I tried to comment on a blogspot blog yesterday. Maybe it was something on their end.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually glad to know you had the problem too. Maybe it is a Blogger thing.
DeleteI actually have a whole house humidifier running right now! I run it all winter long.
ReplyDeleteCan I send you some of my humidity?
DeleteThere has been a lot of problems with Blogger and comments recently. Don't take it personally.
ReplyDeleteIt's always a crapshoot how Blogger is going to respond, but I hadn't seen this particular message before a week or two ago, and until yesterday it had never prevented me from commenting altogether. I hope you're right that it's a Blogger problem and not a ME problem.
DeleteFog and spider webs.....very seasonal!
ReplyDeleteI've had that blogger problem happen before but it's been a while ago.
Funny -- for me it's a recent phenomenon.
DeleteThose spider webs are perfection.
ReplyDeleteAren't they? They really do show why spider webs became Halloween symbols.
Deletelove the jeweled spider webs. haven't seen too many spiders around here this year.
ReplyDeleteWe've had a lot of spiders -- normal amount, I'd say -- but less of many other things like butterflies.
DeleteSpider webs are amazing and it helps when they're wet.
ReplyDeleteYeah, you can see them much more easily that way!
DeleteI love the webs. They looked like decorations at first.
ReplyDeleteI know! I thought the same thing.
DeleteI've had that message too. I copy my comment, exit the page and reload the page. Then I can usually comment. I'm guessing a softwar update glitch.
ReplyDeleteI've done that same thing in the past and it's worked, but yesterday it didn't. I couldn't comment no matter what I did or how long I waited.
DeleteLove the foggy photos and the webs - very appropriate for this time of year! Mike just said that we were turning into a desert here - after the hurricane at the end of September we've had very little rain & none in the forecast at the moment. But I don't really envy your damp - there's always something, isn't there?
ReplyDeleteExactly -- seems like it's always too much or too little!
DeleteGreat spiderweb photos! Olga seems to be saying "if you wouldn't stop and take photos of me you'd get home more quickly!".
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous of your rain. I can't remember our last.
Is autumn usually a dry season where you are? Here it tends to be very damp.
DeleteThe fog creates a moody atmosphere and puts a chill in the air. I always found London dampness unique. For me, it always felt colder than the reading on the temperature gauge.
ReplyDeleteThose spiderwebs are meticulously designed.
Hopefully, the blogger issues will resolve.
Yeah, London can feel raw in very damp weather! Makes me wish we had a functioning fireplace.
DeleteI commented. it's gone
ReplyDeleteYou were in spam prison, but I let you out! :)
DeleteThose are beautiful spider webs, so magical. I'm having trouble with WP blogs now too. I have to switch browsers and sometimes I don't feel like it. I enjoy the ambiance of fog and the mystery it imparts.
ReplyDeleteBlog commenting should not be so hard. It seems like a fairly straightforward process, doesn't it?!
DeleteOlga can still hustle?! Lovely damp photos!
ReplyDeleteChris from Boise
Well, "hustle" is a relative term. LOL
DeleteIt's a blogger glitch and may or may not be temporary, depending on your idea of temporary. For me it went on far too long, but only on a few blogs, not all of them.
ReplyDeleteThe spider webs are amazing, I never see any like that here, clearly you have the "right" spiders. The fog in the first picture makes the back end of your yard look like a grotto.
Maybe we have more moisture in the air here than you do? The dewdrops make the webs stand out. The back of our garden kind of IS a grotto -- a tree cave of sorts.
DeleteSouth Australia- driest state in the driest continent.
DeleteBeautiful back garden, beautiful fog, beautiful tensile spider webs, most of all beautiful Olga.
