Stickermania

Aas you know, I always keep an eye out for unusual stickers when I'm walking along Finchley Road (which, in general, is not a very scenic thoroughfare). Here are some I've found in recent days.

Perfunctory Googling this morning didn't solve the mystery of the sticker above. There are songs called "Not So Good," so maybe it's a reference to something like that, but otherwise the meaning is lost on me.

I think "Tommy" must refer to Tommy Robinson, England's criminal right-wing provocateur and all-around loose cannon.

I'm not sure what this one's about. Looks like a logo, but Google isn't sure for what.

"Boo" has posted several stickers featuring chili peppers.

"Clean Out Louis" really IS a band, or at least a musical duo. I think they're Danish. Apparently one of them is named Louis -- a fact he didn't know until he was six years old, if this article is to be believed. Perhaps he's trying to "clean out" this alter-ego?

And finally, yet another cat sticker. I never tire of them.

  1. Although the mess of stickers drives me nuts, I do love the cat stickers and the curiosities to be found. Poor Louis Sylvester. How odd.

  2. As soon as I saw Tommy, I guessed what the sticker was about. I researched him after we were lunching in a Whitehall pub and a demonstration went past in support of Robinson. I had no idea who he was until then.
The cat stickers are entertaining to see. I think cat nose is sending love to US people, but the facial expression is one of puzzlement and despair about what it happening.

  3. I think the third one down is a reference to Donald Trump.

  4. Why don't yet get some of your own stickers printed and stick them in random places? A common visiting fans chant at English football grounds is: "Is this a library? Is this a library?" It is used when the home fans have gone quiet. It might be a good idea for your stickers or simply use the invented word "REEDESQUE".

  5. Stickers and other incidental art brighten life and make journeys more interesting. Who makes them and why? What do they gain personally? There's a myriad stories 'out there.'

  6. The cat stickers are the best but I like the chili pepper theme too!

  7. I have walked through many an urban area over the years and don't recall seeing any stickers posted. I'm not sure it is just a self induced blindness to them or there really aren't any.

  8. Red Hot Chili Peppers! I remember.

  9. Glen had almost exactly the same experience as Louis on his first day of school. He had no idea that his real name was Curtis Glinden. He had always been Glen. When the teacher called roll she kept calling for "Curtis" and finally looked at Glen and said, "Isn't that you?"
That could mess you up for life.

  12. That's an interesting collection. I need to be more observant about stickers like this. I wonder what "I 'heart' Not So Good" means. It kind of has a sad feel. Love the cat!

  13. I guess the various stickers are made to make us think about something?

  14. The stickers and street art in your area is prolific. I see no such art in my community.
I especially love the cat stickers. The expressions are simple and clearly stated. Someone has talent.
I've never understood why some people never use their true name. Why was the name given at birth if it was never intended to be used?

  16. When I saw TOMMY, all I could think about was The Who. (which, of course, will provide plenty of ear worms for the day)

  17. Your previous post - the photo of your night garden is splendid, looks like a painting. Clever phone camera brightening the foreground.

You ought to travel with a Big black sharpie so that you can improve certain stickers...
