Fall Leaves
I'm seeing more and more changing leaves as I walk to work each day. I took the photo above on Sept. 29, and as you'll see in the following photos -- ordered chronologically over the following few days -- the colors seem to be getting progressively deeper. Not a surprise, I suppose.
Even with a spot of bird poop on them, they're beautiful!
Every year I wind up with way too many leaf pictures. But when I see a nice leaf on the sidewalk it seems a crime to not record it for posterity.
There are still plenty of trees that are mostly green -- all the ones in our back garden, for example -- so we're nowhere near "peak leaf" yet.

I love the fall leaf colours, the one you are holding is the prettiest. It's spring here, yet looking through my front window I can see a tree that is mostly orange and red.
ReplyDeleteThere is something remarkable how nature can produce the most beautiful colours, even in the death of a leaf.
ReplyDeleteThelma, sadly I don't think that really applies to humans.
DeleteThe last one is a beauty.
ReplyDeleteStorm Amy is ripping our leaves from the trees before they have had a chance to change colour. I hope enough remain to give us an autumn display like yours.
ReplyDeleteIt's good that you capture the transient beauty of fallen autumn leaves. People take them for granted but each fallen leaf is can seem like an accidental work of art - especially when illuminated by sharp autumn sunshine.
ReplyDeleteA lovely sight..not so much of the deep colours up here as we had less of the hot weather to develop the sugars that give the colours as the temperature drops
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful chronology. I could do without the bird poop.
ReplyDeleteAppreciating wondrous beauty in little things is a gift to be cherished and developed. (I'm in purple prose territory today.)
ReplyDeleteAutumn leaves are absolutely beautiful aren't they.
ReplyDeleteThat's a nice series of leaves. Art everywhere.
ReplyDeleteI have always loved fall leaves too. Here in Virginia a few are starting to yellow, but we have a ways to go before the full color comes out. PS: I love the photo of Olga in the sidebar!
