It's that time of year again. I took Olga for a walk yesterday morning before work, and we found evidence of autumn all around us.
This tree is always one of the first on the street to change. I've photographed it several times (most recently here and here). And it always has that same blue car parked beneath it! I don't know how, with on-street parking, that person is able to maintain their possession of that same space so consistently.
The Maw is looking even more autumnal, the vine surrounding it getting redder and redder. I'm just realizing the foliage has been quite dramatically trimmed since that last post.
I managed to survive work yesterday. I was afraid I might start to feel bad in the afternoon, and I had Lemsip at the ready, but no -- I was fine. Maybe this cold really is behind me, knock on wood.

I’m knocking on wood. Beautiful fall colors. I’ll get vicarious pleasure. (I can’t help but find the Maw a bit creepy. Like the beginning of a sci-fi film.)
ReplyDeleteOh, it's definitely creepy!
DeleteEnter under this red crown ye who dare!
ReplyDeleteWhat's that from? When I Google it I only get your comment!
DeleteIt's here and winter soon follows
ReplyDeleteBut we do have a period of beauty before the cold sets in!
DeleteThe cats were out in the garden this morning watching the leaves floating down from the Copper Beech tree next door.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind Autumn, its cooler for one thing and that suits me.

I agree -- I enjoy autumn. It's my favorite season, actually.
DeleteThe leaves are beautiful. Do you suppose that the car ever moves?
ReplyDeleteI don't know! I've been keeping an eye on it since I took that photo and I'm sure it hasn't budged, but it's only been a few days.
DeleteOur leaves aren't quite changing yet, and I am so ready for the Fall colors.
ReplyDeleteNow I need you to camp out by that car and see if it ever moves!
I'm keeping an eye on it!
DeleteBeautiful fall colors there.
ReplyDeleteReally glad you are starting to feeling better.
Thanks! Recovery is a good thing!
DeleteAnd I think the blue car is also facing the wrong direction.
ReplyDeleteNot illegal here...but it should be
DeleteYeah, in the UK, people aren't required to park in the direction of traffic, as I understand it!
DeleteAutumn leaves are like snow around here...rare and usually only in pictures. we're supposed to get our first real cold front this weekend and just in time as the air conditioner crapped out yesterday.
ReplyDeleteWe had swamp maples in Central Florida that would change every year and give us some color.
DeleteI'm knocking on wood for you and for me. I got the strange feeling of a cold coming on yesterday at noon and I have to fly on Monday. I went to my old standby treatment Zicam and I think I've headed it off at the pass. (knock on wood again)
ReplyDeleteI love the fall colors.
Oh no! I hope you've defeated it!
DeleteFall has been fairly spectacular in Spokane. There are more deciduous trees than I was expecting here. Soon it will be time to pick them up. Oddly enough, yard waste pickup ends before leaf fall, so we'll be using many plastic yard waste bags for the leaves.
ReplyDeleteThat's weird. Why on Earth would they stop picking up yard waste before leaves fall?!?!
DeleteI took a photo of autumn leaves on my walk on Wednesday. But we still have a lot of green here too!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are recovering from your cold. I bet you are glad it is Friday already! Have a good weekend!
Yeah, we have quite a bit of green as well. We still have a week or two to go before we hit peak leaf time. (Such that it is.)
DeleteI love the first photo of the two leaves. Gorgeous! Our fall color is just getting started and I'm afraid it might not be a good year since we had little to no rain during September. They may just turn brown!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're on the mend now!
Well, I hope the leaves surprise you! :)
DeleteThanks. You just reminded me to put Lemsip on my 'to buy' list when I come to London tomorrow. Glad you are on the mend. Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely a worthwhile product to keep around! Enjoy your trip!
DeleteBeautiful colors. I wish we had them here. Glad you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteThe swamp maples in Florida always turn -- I remember finding colorful leaves in our yard as a kid. But yeah, not quite the colors of northern climes. :)
DeleteYes, lovely colors, the like of which we hardly ever see.
ReplyDeleteThere's not really a leaf season for cacti, I guess! But they have nice flowers.
DeleteMaybe the blue car has been in that spot forever and will never leave. That might be a Halloween story.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
I'm seriously going to keep an eye on it and see if it ever budges.
DeleteBeautiful reds in this post. Maybe the blue car's driver works a weird schedule that means the parking spot is always empty when they come home. It would be interesting to know for sure. Have a restful weekend and kick the remains of that cold to the curb.
ReplyDeleteOh, that could be. Maybe they're on a night shift or something.
DeleteBeautiful colours, and the blue car sets the colours off too
ReplyDeleteYeah, the car coordinates quite nicely with the tree. Suppose that's why they park there?!
