Bouquet

When I was at Tesco last weekend, I bought this Easter bouquet to brighten up the living room -- a mixture of lilies, iris and chrysanthemums. Yesterday evening the sun was hitting it just right and a photo was in order!

I don't have much news. I was busy as all get-out yesterday, re-shelving a couple of cartloads of books, covering new ones and spending an hour in the Lower School. Barely a moment to breathe! But none of it was very interesting or yielded any blog-worthy stories.

Today I'm hoping to get back to inventory once again. I've been wearing my pants with a hole in the knee in preparation -- since kneeling for inventory always ruins my pants, why ruin a second pair? I'll just completely demolish the ones that are already damaged, even though I might look like a hobo in the meantime. I want the kids to look at me and say, "Gee, someday I want to be a prosperous librarian like him."

  1. Holey knees are fashionable I think.
You could be starting a new school-wide trend.

    1. I'm not sure they're fashionable in khakis! Maybe jeans.

  2. What was Cruella Deville doing while you were slaving away in the library? Perhaps she's away at another "conference"?

  3. That last sentence - LOL! And the flowers are gorgeous. Those are colours that I love.

  4. That Easter bouquet sounds beautiful in the sunlight, and I admire your practical approach to inventory—nothing says “aspirational librarian” like well-worn pants and relentless dedication!

  6. Tesco does flowers well- affordable at any rate. "All get out" is a phrase i have not heard since my parents died! Thanks for a drop back to the fifties. I am sure that your trousers are fine- knee poking through, sexy, trending! The young lads most certainly hold you in high esteem .

    1. Ha! I don't know where I picked up that phrase. I'm not sure anyone else in my family says it!

  7. Maybe work on a patent for "library inventory pants" - with or without padded knee support. That could help make you a prosperous librarian.

    1. It's true! There could be a market here! I bet someone's done it already.

  8. I like adding cut flowers to the groceries, nice touch. You will remember to trim those red polleny bits off the lilies, before they indelibly stain anything they touch?

    1. They are a problem, those polleny bits! I just avoid them and then clean up with a paper towel when I throw out the flowers.

  9. As a retired librarian I can tell you none of us were ever "prosperous".

  10. Maybe the kids will feel sorry for you and buy you some new pants?

    1. I shudder to think what they would choose. Probably sweatpants. That's what they all wear, day after day.

  12. Pretty bouquet. Holey jeans cost the earth to buy. Holey trousers could be the next 'in' thing.

  13. What a pretty arrangement of flowers and shadows and light.
You need to wear knee pads. If you are wearing out your pants at the knee, think of what you are doing to the joints underneath!

  14. I don't know - ripped jeans are apparently still in fashion so you might have the opposite effect. Ha!

    1. I could invest in the trendiest clothing imaginable and these kids would still never find me stylish.

  15. Sadly, single holes in jeans aren't fashionable. They must look like you ran through a briar patch for many miles before they become fashionable. Makes me miss those days when ripped knees were fashionable... briefly.

  17. I was once told that jeans with holes are designer jeans and come with a designer name on the label. The cost is eye watering. Holes are trendy!
    Lovely bouquet.

  18. Beautiful flowers! But I find the choice of flowers unusual for an Easer bouquet - for me, chrysanthemums are more a flower of late summer / early autumn.
Good idea to use an already "holey" pair of jeans while you're still working on the inventory.
Did you see that Jennifer's Marco has done the opposite of what your Olga has done? While she was eating suet balls, Marco has been nicking dog food!

    1. It's true -- chrysanthemums are generally more autumnal, but that's because they're usually orange and yellow. These are spring-themed mums! I haven't seen Jennifer's latest post yet but I will look! Animals are so mischievous.

  20. Rick has a pair of those pants. Both knees out. (And covered with paint.) You just go with it -- I don't think I could separate him from them. Love the flowers -- beautiful and perfect lighting!

  22. Does your library have The Bletchley Riddle by Ruta Sepetys and Steve Sheinkin? I just finished reading it last night and really enjoyed it. I think it would be a good addition if it's not already there.

  23. Certain jobs do damage the clothing. I usually had some color of white board marker on my hands and occasionally on my clothes. Overhead pens were much worse! My oldest grandson likes to scoot along the floor on one knee while running his cars, trucks or trains and has holes in that knee too.

  24. Patch the knees and only use for kneeling jobs. Nice photo.

    1. I will probably not bother to patch. I only have to get through the school year, which will be ending in month and a half, and I have other pants for when I'm not inventorying!

  25. The bouquet is beautiful. Ripped knees are still fashionable but aren't you worried the kneeling might cause your skin to also wear out?

    1. So far my skin has proved very durable! I am a bit concerned about my joints, though.
