We're Good to Go

I am really scraping the bottom of the barrel today photo-wise. Not that this photo is bad -- it's just old. It took it Nov. 17. I haven't looked at these hellebores lately to see if they've fully bloomed, but I imagine they have. Maybe I'll do an update tomorrow.

Dave's surgery is moving ahead today, thank goodness. He didn't hear anything from the hospital until 3:30 yesterday afternoon, so he was biting his fingernails (figuratively speaking) all morning. Talk about leaving the plans to the last minute! Anyway, we've got to be at the hospital at 7:30 a.m. and I'm not sure what happens after that. I may come back home or I may go to work. It's only a partial workday anyway -- the library is closing early for the school holiday party (which I will probably skip given this surgery situation).

I have a theater outing tonight, by unfortunate coincidence -- something that was planned long ago before we knew about the surgery. I have a ticket to a holiday "panto" with some colleagues from work. I probably will go to that, since I spent £50 on a seat, even if it's not ideal timing.

Can you stand another fox video? This one has some pretty good shots -- including me wrapped in a blanket, looking like Michael Stipe in a housedress as I try to call the dog inside. (She was hot on the scent trail of the foxes!)

  1. I am loving Michael Stipe in the garden with foxes.

  2. I wonder if there is something about your garden that attracts foxes or do they roam everyone's gardens like yours. I would have thought the strong scent of Olga would put them off.

  3. Healthy looking foxes, good to see that.. hopefully eating more rodents than rubbish.

Possibly the outing isn't an unfortunate coincidence, so that you aren't sitting at home metaphorically chewing your fingernails. Here's to a good outcome and recovery for Dave

  4. Looks like you might have a down-and-out fellow (American: hobo) living in your shed. Poor bloke - he hasn't even got any clothes - just a tattered blanket to wrap around himself. Oh, I just read the last bit - I didn't realise it was you! Sorry for any offence caused.

Fingers crossed for Dave. I will be praying for him.

  5. The foxes sure look beautiful and well fed. And you look lovely as Michael Stipe --- or as an ancient mystic.

  7. By now, Dave should be out of surgery and I'm hoping all went well. Will they keep him overnight? The panto sounds fun, and yes, timing is bad but I hope you give us a full report. I'd love to see one of those sometime. My best to Dave!

  8. Best to Dave. I think by now it's done, so I hope for a quick recovery. I wonder if that blanketed figure was caught on any other cams! Surprise sighting.

  9. Hope Dave is resting by now and his surgery went smoothly. I am surprised how often the fox (or foxes) are in your backyard. What are they looking for there?

  10. Glad that Dave's surgery is planned after all; nothing like being put on hold like that!

  11. Here's hoping that by now Dave's surgery is done and all is well.
You guys live on a fox ranch. That's all there is to it. And you are the dog and fox herder. You just need a crooked staff as you already have the uniform. Mighty fine foxes there, pardner!

  12. That fox spends a lot of time in your yard. I'm sure Olga was on the scent.
I hope by now that the surgery is over and recovering is going well. I'm sending some healing thought your way.

  13. I hope everything went well there and that you both have a peaceful evening.

  14. glad to hear Dave is getting the surgery finally. and I watched the video just to see you wrapped in the blanket. I don't let Minnie out in the big back yard once it's dark. not because of critters but because she runs off barking and I hate having to chase her down in the dark. so it's the small fenced part of the yard if she needs to go out.

  15. One might say that the wait for surgery is worse than the surgery. I hope all goes well.

  16. Yay, Dave got what he wanted. It is good to get these surgeries over with and start to heal.
You have some robust foxes roaming in your garden.
    Enjoy the theater.

  17. All the best to Dave. Yep, "Michael Stipe in a housedress" is an apt description......

  18. I hope everything goes well for Dave. That Christmas tree made out of books, what an excellent idea, especially for a library.

  19. Michael Stipe-REM? I'm testing my memory without googling, something I like to do periodically. I'm glad that Dave's surgery is going forward and that the hernia will be repaired. I don't know much about hernias and hope to never need to!

  20. I hope the surgery went well and wish Dave a quick recovery!

It appeared to me that Olga was totally ignoring you. "Go away, Dad, I'm busy here!"

  21. I hope that everything went well today. So...do those foxes hang around when Olga's out? If not, where do they dart off to? Can you tell?

Oh. And you wear that blanket well.

  22. You went out with bare legs and didn't freeze to death? Wow.
