Inaugurating the Lawn Mower

Dave broke out our brand-new lawnmower for the first time yesterday. Remember what a nightmare it was to have that thing delivered? Well, now we're glad to have it. The back garden is looking pretty good, I must say!

The roses in the middle are all sprouting after their winter pruning and we already have tons of flowers, mainly daffodils and grape hyacinths.

The white camellia is busting out all over. Dave and I both agreed, though, that if it were up to us, we wouldn't plant a white one. I much prefer pink or red. Oh, well -- it's just a rented camellia.

The green flowers in the foreground are euphorbia. We like them, but man, those things are prolific.

Yesterday I did some weeding while Dave mowed and I accidentally weeded one of our plants, a geum. Dave put it back in the ground but I think its survival is in doubt. I feel very guilty. So many of our plants are so small it's hard to tell them from weeds. Dave accidentally weeded one of our Japanese anemones, thinking it was a blackberry. The hazards of gardening!

You are so lucky to have such a lush green space all your own.

When the weather gets warm you can entertain in your garden or just sit together with nature all around. What a lovely thing to have outside your door.

I love your garden!
Once Mr. Moon "weeded" out my entire herb bed.
"I thought they were weeds!" he said.
"Did you not notice that they were the best-smelling weeds you'd ever smelled?!" I asked him.
This was probably twenty years ago. Obviously, I am still not quite over it.

I prefer pink too... One year I "weeded" a columbine by accident at church. I didn't get asked to help again :)

What a great yard you have! Perfect for Olga! I think almost everyone when getting to know a strange garden will pull up something they should not have. I know I certainly have!

Your lawn looks fantastic! It’s great that you are now able to put your lawnmower to good use. I'm sure your lawn will be in better condition than it was before, with the mower you've got leveling the grass and the landscape right. Cheers!
