Dave at the Back Door

I really like this picture of Dave looking out our patio doors during a rainstorm a few weeks ago. I'm not sure how he'll feel about me putting his snowflake pajama pants on my blog, but hopefully he won't mind.

I spent nearly all day yesterday writing e-mails to the parents of children with overdue library books. We're making that last push to get everything back. We have one and a half more days of school, so we're down to the wire!

That is a nice photograph and the snowflake pants are not all that obvious with the lighting. Good luck with the books!

Hi!
I am Steve Reed and I work in the school library.

Every summer we have big problems getting kids to return books they have borrowed from our library.

Checking our records I see that your child (insert name) is still in possession of (insert number) overdue library books.

Please kick ass and force the little scrote to get those books back to us before the summer recess. May I suggest withdrawal of privileges until the books are returned? Take his/her phone away and deny him/her internet access.

I get sick of it. What makes your kid so irresponsible? Personally, I put it down to poor parenting. WE WANT OUR BOOKS BACK! NOW DO IT....OR ELSE!!!

Yours,
S. Reed

E: Yeah, I probably shouldn't have said anything! LOL!

YP: That is almost EXACTLY what I write. Except I don't call anyone a "scrote."

I am now going to start calling everyone a scrote.

I really like that shot of Dave and your indoor and outdoor plants. It's lovely!

I am intrigued. If you don't use the term "scrote" how do you describe the library book hoarders?

Now emailing parents? That lows my mind. we didn't have that technology when I retired in 1997. Very few people had email. We had to phone!

Great photo of Dave in a very poetic corner.

Lovely photo of Dave and the view outside there. I like Yorkshire Pudding's suggested email to the parents. It has the perfect end of the school year attitude!

Wow, that really is a wonderful photo. It looks so lush out your back door! It looks like you are living in the country instead of the middle of one of the biggest cities in the world.

What a beautiful view of your back garden and all the hard work you two have put in. I love the feel of this picture - the quietness and peace it suggests. Maybe it's the lighting. Whatever it is, you caught it.

YP's suggested collection email is just the thing to get parents to PERSONALLY bring in their kids' library books, don't you think?!

OR you could put up perfectly unrecognizable-in-the-distance photos and say perfectly benign things, and he might still say "It wasn't like that! Don't mention me on that blog of yours! No pictures!"

Dammit. That's where I'm at lately, with my spousal equivalent. His friends and family must all think I'm the only person I find interesting!

I have used the nickname "Scrotie" for a loverboy, many times. Does that make me evil? It's such a cute word.
